1. It\u2019s actually the best place to live in the country.<\/h3>\n

Ann Arbor is consistently ranked on research and data-based lists of the best places to live in the United States. In 2017, our city ranked third on the <\/span>Livability Top 100 Best Places to Live<\/span><\/a>. Then on the <\/span>2018 Livability Top 100 Best Places To Live<\/span><\/a>, A2 jumped to the number one spot! This particular Livability ranking started with a nationwide poll to find out what matters most to Americans. Then, nearly 2,300 cities were ranked on data points that cover economics, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital, education and healthcare.<\/span>
\nAnn Arbor has also been ranked on the 2018 National Geographic list, <\/span>The Best Cities in the United States<\/span><\/a> which ranked the best small cities to visit this year. And A2 snagged the number one spot in the Midwest on <\/span>RewardExpert’s Best Mid-Sized Cities to Visit in 2017<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>
\n <\/p>\n

2. We love to learn. <\/span><\/h3>\n

\nAnn Arbor is home to the world-renowned <\/span>University of Michigan<\/span><\/a>. On its own, our hometown university has consistently ranked on <\/span>National University Rankings<\/span><\/a> amongst other ivy league superstars like Yale and Harvard. But the university paired with our outstanding community has landed Ann Arbor on lists of the country\u2019s best college towns. This Livability list, <\/span>2017 10 Best College Towns<\/span><\/a>, puts us in the top ten! <\/span>
\nThrough the university, our town has been blessed with community and kid-friendly educational centers like the <\/span>University of Michigan Museum of Art<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Kelsey Museum of Archaeology<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Exhibit Museum of Natural History<\/span><\/a> and so many more. Many of these are also recognized as the largest and\/or most significant university collections in the country! <\/span>
\n <\/p>\n

3. Ann Arbor loves local. <\/span><\/h3>\n

We\u2019ll get into the specific venue, business and restaurant details later on, but the short story is: Ann Arbor loves local. Whether you\u2019re an up and coming musician, you have a new beer recipe to try or you just want to share your passions, there\u2019s a spot in our business community for you \u2014\u00a0and plenty of people who will gladly test it out. <\/span>Livability even ranked A2 one of the best cities for entrepreneurs in 2017<\/span><\/a>! <\/span>

There\u2019s no hiding the bibliophile culture of Ann Arbor. Since the Ann Arbor founding and the nationwide expansion of Borders, our book-loving community has gotten plenty of attention \u2014\u00a0but our book-loving nature has been with us for much longer. Today, our town is home to local legends like <\/span>Literati Bookstore<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Bookbound<\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Nicola’s Books<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Aunt Agatha’s<\/a> alongside beloved places like <\/span>Common Language Book Bar<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Crazy Wisdom Bookstore & Tearoom<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>
\nFor used and antiquarian books, you can go to our other favorite A2 shops<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Dawn Treader Book Shop<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Friends of the Ann Arbor District Library Book Shop<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Motte & Bailey Booksellers<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>West Side Book Shop<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>

Whether you\u2019re perusing downtown districts like <\/span>Main Street<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The State Street District<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Kerrytown Market and Shops<\/span><\/a> or exploring one of <\/span>159 parks<\/span><\/a> throughout Ann Arbor, there are plenty of excuses to get outside. In those 159 parks, you\u2019ll find basketball and tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, a skatepark, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, boat launches, ice rinks, dog parks, disc golf and dirt bike courses and a course to play bocce ball. <\/span>

7. And even easier to find a festival. <\/span><\/h3>\n

Are you a fan of film? Try the <\/span>Ann Arbor Film Festival<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Cinetopia Film Festival<\/span><\/a> or the <\/span>Jewish Film Festival<\/span><\/a>. How about music? Don\u2019t miss the <\/span>Ann Arbor Folk Festival<\/span><\/a> or <\/span>Edgefest<\/span><\/a>. How about music, cinema, comedy and culinary arts all rolled into one? Then you need to attend the <\/span>Ann Arbor Summer Festival<\/span><\/a>! Our town celebrates with festivals and events year-round whether it\u2019s the <\/span>47th Annual Earth Day Festival<\/span><\/a> or the free, annual community celebrations <\/span>FoolMoon<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>FestiFools<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>
\n <\/p>\n

8. We\u2019re a local hub for art and culture. <\/span><\/h3>\n

We already mentioned the noteworthy festivals above, but A2 is also the home of <\/span>Shakespeare in the Arb<\/span><\/a> each summer, <\/span>Kerrytown Concert House<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The Michigan Theater<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The State Theater<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>Ann Arbor Art Center<\/span><\/a>, a nonprofit exhibition, gallery and retail space. Through these venues, we get to enjoy local and touring dance performances, art exhibitions, cinema, concerts and more. And have you heard about <\/span>our fairy doors<\/span><\/a>? <\/span>
\n <\/p>\n

9. It\u2019s an affordable place to live. <\/span><\/h3>\n

You would think all the amazing things about Ann Arbor would come at a lofty price, but in reality, it\u2019s a fairly affordable one. Penny Hoarder conducted a ranking, <\/span>25 U.S. Cities That Millennials Can Afford \u2014 and Actually Want to Live In<\/span><\/a>, which rounded up the most livable cities ranked for their price, their fun and everything in between. And of course, Ann Arbor made the list. <\/span>

10. Two words: The people.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\nIt\u2019s no secret we love Ann Arbor, but we firmly believe we wouldn\u2019t be one of the country\u2019s best places to live without the best locals, residents and visitors. Amongst all the rankings and awards Ann Arbor has been honored with, our favorite is <\/span>the National Geographic ranking of the happiest cities in the United States<\/span><\/a> which puts Ann Arbor in the top 20. We couldn\u2019t do it without you, A2. <\/span>
